It was lunchtime when Evan started feeling weird. He felt irritated for no reason whatsoever, and his skin felt too tight. He debated on calling Brandon and telling him, but he didn’t want to overreact. He rubbed his neck where Brandon had bitten him. It would’ve been smart to ask if his fangs had come out when they’d done it last night as well. If the animal was satisfied, then they wouldn’t. It would’ve been a big indication if this was actually happening.

Jude pushed off the doorframe. “Yeah. You should have waited, but, hell, I should have waited to sleep with Logan if you go by what we’re taught. Taking it slow is a human MO. Shifters are different though, and their animals can’t lie about things that most people take for granted. You’re the one who told me that if it’s right, it’s right. You don’t have to justify mating your man with me.”

A happy squeal sounded behind him. “He mated him?”

He rolled his eyes. Collin was a mess. “Yeah. Hey, Jude?”

“What?”

“How did you feel when you were turned?”

Jude shrugged. “Restless mostly. Like I’d outgrown an old jacket but was still trying to wear it while running a marathon.”

“I think I might be there,” Evan admitted. “I’m annoyed for no reason, and my skin feels tight.”

Jude’s eyes narrowed. “He shouldn’t have let you go if he thought it was a possibility. What if I weren’t a shifter? You’d be turning in an office with no one else around who knew the signs. I’m not even that experienced.” That sounded a lot like a reprimand from where Jude was sitting.

“He’s doing his best,” Evan countered. “He said to call if I started feeling funny.”
